Planning on hosting a Superbowl party this year? Superbowl Sunday is right around the corner—on Sunday, February 7, 2010—so it's time to start brainstorming about your menu, decorations, beverages, and entertainment. Here are a few ideas to help you get the process rolling.
- Consider a regional theme. Are you pulling for one of the teams playing in the big game? This year the Indianapolis Colts will take on the New Orleans Saints, so take a cue from your favorite team’s city or region and use it as a unifying theme to plan your decorations and menu.
- Keep the finger foods flowing. Chips, dip, mini-meatballs, nachos, snack mix, flavored popcorn, sliders, buffalo wings, or anything that can be consumed without cutlery is sure to be a hit. Need a few ideas? Click here for game time party recipes.
- Throw a pigskin potluck party. Ask each guest to contribute a football-related food or drink item, and dole out prizes for the most creative interpretation of this request.
- Take one for the team. If your party guests are planning on downing more than a few cold ones during the big game, line up a few friends to serve as designated drivers for the event.
If you’re hosting a Superbowl party this year, don’t sweat it. Nobody’s expecting anything elaborate – just set out a few bowls of snacks, throw more beer in the cooler, and let the fun begin!
